The bad-boy stars of The Wedding Crashers reveal their romantic side—well, kinda.

In your new movie, you play guys who love to crash weddings to pick up women. Are you like your characters in real life?

Wilson: I definitely enjoy a good party, but I would be more likely to crash the Playboy mansion than a wedding!

Vaughn: I don’t like dates, kinda like my character in the movie. If you meet someone that you like, I prefer to meet them out somewhere. That’s good for me, because that’s comfortable. I don’t like the feeling of going to pick someone up that I don’t know very well at their house first and then take them to a formal restaurant.

Are you as hopeless a romantic as your character ends up being?

Wilson: That isn’t something ex-girlfriends would accuse me of! I think of myself as romantic, but I think girls have a different notion of what romance is. If it’s in the look, then I think when I turn on the high-beams, that can be translated into romance.

Vaughn: I think I am romantic to some degree, if I really like someone. I’m not romantic, just for romantic’s sake.

In their quest to pick up women, your characters utilize a hilarious plethora of ‘wedding crashing’ rules. Do you have any rules for dating?

Wilson: Top three rules—fake it till you make it. That’s rule one, two and three!

Owen, it looks like you had a lot of fun with Jane Seymour in her partially nude seduction scene with you. Was there a body double?

Wilson: No, there wasn’t! That was all Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman! This was one scene that demanded a lot of takes!!!! Jane was saying, ‘On television, we didn’t have to do a lot of takes.’ And I said, ‘Well, that’s the greatest thing about film!’

What’s the best date you’ve ever been on?

Wilson: I was going out with this girl when I was living in Rome. She came over to visit me. We had rented bicycles and rode around the city at night, seeing the sights and the fountain… the Spanish steps… that was a great date.

Which leads me to my next question: Have you ever had a bad date?

Vaughn: Never bad. I just don’t like dating at all. It’s just that feeling when you were younger, when your mom makes you dress up and go to some formal function. You just don’t feel comfortable. I never did anyway. I don’t feel honest, I guess. It’s when you don’t get to learn about anyone. You are kinda being polite, and you can ask the questions. It’s just not a great time for me.

Would you like to get married? Did you get any ideas about your future wedding?

Wilson: I think eventually. I am 36. One of these days, I think I will get married. I love family. You can’t stay at the party forever.
