Q&A With… Josh Holloway
By Susan L. Hornik

On ABC’s Lost, your character continues to have that hot love triangle with fellow cast mates Evangeline Lilly and Matthew Fox. Is it ever awkward to do love scenes?

No, because Evie and I have such a great friendship now. And, she and my wife have a great relationship! There’s definitely a lot of trust there.

So your wife doesn’t mind?

[One recent] sex scene made me a little uncomfortable. I was watching it with my wife, and that’s who I look at that way normally. There was a little twinge of guilt, but that just means I did my job! Plus, we have a little joke. She gets a free kiss card every time I get to kiss somebody. She’s got like seven now. And I keep telling her, “They expire at the end of the year. You better use ‘em!” It’s fun. I think this really keeps the romance going in our life. We can’t keep our hands off each other!

What does sexy mean to you?

I think it’s about confidence. That’s what first attracted me to my wife; I was immediately drawn to the way she handled herself. I’ve met lots of women but with her, I don’t know—she has a kind of irresistible quality. I think that’s very sexy. And a great smile works, too!

As I’m sure you’ve heard, you are extremely popular with the ladies. What’s it like to be a sex symbol?

God, that is so funny. It’s kinda hard to get used to at first. But my wife really keeps me grounded so my head doesn’t get too big!

Do you have any advice for couples who have that occasional fight?

Learn the art of compromise: It’s so much better when you can meet each other in the middle. For example, when I get a new script, my wife will steal it and will lock herself in the bathroom right away so I can’t read it first. This would drive me crazy usually, and I’m like, “Come on!” But she’s a quick reader, so I let her steal it!
