The supermodel and author of Check, Please! reveals her brave, no-bull approach to finding Mr. Right—and leaving Mr. Wrongs in the dust.

Your new book is called Check, Please! How to Pick Up Boys…& Dump Them When You’re Done. So let’s break this down: Got any advice on how women should find a great guy? |
This book is all about how to get into and out of a relationship with the least amount of pain and a maximum amount of fun! Keep looking for a guy until you find one that instinctively feels right for you—and make sure there’s passion there as well. |
And what about advice on dumping them? |
Just go! Just like that. It’s that easy. And you know when it’s time to go! It’s not like you don’t—women stay in denial way too long. |
You also have a new reality show on Oxygen called The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency that chronicles your dating life. In a nutshell, what kind of man would you say you’re looking for? |
I’m looking for a man who can make me laugh and drag me back to the cave to do it! I’m definitely still looking to get married—the right man must find me and ask! |
Do you think it’s harder to date as a single mom? |
Definitely. I think women don’t want to disappoint their children. With me, I don’t have a revolving door when it comes to men. I don’t want to give my daughter a bad message as far as men, so I try to be very courteous and aware of her emotional well-being and security. |
In the book, you talk about the differences between making love and getting laid. Can you expand on that? |
You can have sex like a rabbit. With love… it takes a lot of time to get there. But honestly, it really starts with loving yourself. I get up every morning, and I am just grateful to have another day. Finally, after 51 years, I have learned how to love myself. It hasn’t been easy; it’s been a hell of a ride. But I’m still in the game, baby! I’m not going anywhere, no matter what! |
What have you learned from past relationships? |
Love, life and laughter are key. If you aren’t happy, get the hell out of the relationship and head for the hills! If you’re not fulfilling your own inner peace, leave and find it within yourself. That’s what I’ve done. Sure, it’s been painful and lonely at times, but you can have more fun with a dog and a romp on the beach and a bunch of good girlfriends than anything! |
